Wisdom of Woe of Madness

from Soothsayer by Charles Dexter Ward

about

Based off a paragraph in Moby Dick which is used as the first stanza

lyrics

There is a wisdom that is woe; but there is a woe that is madness. And there is a Catskill eagle in some souls that can alike dive down into the blackest gorges, and soar out of them again and become invisible in the sunny spaces. And even if he for ever flies within the gorge, that gorge is in the mountains; so that even in his lowest swoop the mountain eagle is still higher than other birds upon the plain, even though they soar.

Do you soar?
Have you achieved more than others inside the realm of man?
This is no feat, for to truly soar is to break free the confines of reality.
I seek the realms beyond man, despite being their kin. I wish to transcend the monotheist world and become not only a pagan, but to take seat in the pantheon.

Falling into madness am I? Yes falling indeed, far from the peak of my potential but still a heavenly body fathoms above. The entire world below me as I plumit and the clouds will break my fall. they may kill me there and my blood will rain down, falling upon the realists watching from below. With respect or not, they shall know my name, for fame and infamy are renown all the same.
